Cruise Description

7 Night Cruise sailing from Bagan roundtrip aboard Belmond Road to Mandalay.

Day One: Bagan
Check-in at Taung Be village in Bagan. Step aboard Belmond Road to Mandalay and sink into your luxurious surroundings.

After a leisurely lunch head ashore to visit the majestic Ananda Temple. Originally constructed in 1090, it remains a popular place for prayer and reflection. Take a short walk to 12th century Thatbynnyu, one of Bagan’s tallest pagodas, and explore a smaller temple by torchlight.

Break away from the templescape to visit a renowned lacquerware workshop nearby, where the owner explains his craft. Gather to watch sunset across the temple-topped plains before proceeding to a small riverside pagoda for an exclusive candle-lighting ceremony.

Day Two: Bagan & Sailing
Start the day with a refreshing smoothie from the Healthy Juice Bar on the Observation Deck.

After breakfast, choose from several morning tours of Bagan. Soar into sunrise with a breathtaking hot air balloon ride over Bagan, or enjoy a short walk to nearby farmland. Visit the ornate Sulamani temple, a beautifully constructed pagoda with intricate carving and brickwork. A cycle tour or a horse and cart ride provide the option to explore the national park at your own pace. Alternatively, join our resident physician Dr Hla Tun to visit Belmond’s Free Health Clinic, just a few steps from the jetty, and learn about our variety of social contribution projects.

Transfer to the ship as we set sail along the mighty Ayeyarwady. Slip away to the spa for a relaxing treatment, or take a cooling dip in the pool. Browse a local art exhibition hosted, and join our crew for a longyi and thanaka demonstrations. A leisurely lunch is followed by afternoon tea at our onboard Burmese Tea shop.

As evening arrives we invite you to a longyi cocktail party followed by a gastronomic feast for dinner. A spectacular surprise on the river sparks a magical end to the evening.

Day 3 Myin Mu
We arrive in Myin Mu this morning. Board a fleet of trishaws and enjoy a tour of the town, which boasts a vibrant local market, colourful tea shops and traditional treasures. Learn about thriving local industries at a bamboo weavers compound and a slipper workshop.

Lunch is served back on board before an afternoon tour to Alacapa. A farming village with a wealth of crafting heritage, Alacapa boasts various pottery and agricultural industries. The lifestyle has remained unchanged for centuries.

A sumptuous dinner is served in the restaurant this evening, before traditional entertainment draws the day to a close.

Day 4 Monywa
Travel north to the Chindwin River this morning, a thriving life-force that flows through the heart of Myanmar. Your guide leads you to the little known region of Monywa. Marvel at the world’s tallest Standing Buddha and the giant Reclining Buddha.
