Cruise Description

12 Night Cruise sailing from Southampton roundtrip aboard Braemar.

Braemar's large windows illuminate the ship's interiors with natural light and provide spectacular views; while polished wooden fixtures, shining brass fittings, decadent fabrics and carefully designed decor assume the feel of a traditional country house hotel. Capable of comfortably accommodating up to 929 guests, Braemar has a unique, intimate feel with friendly staff offering a fantastic level of personal service. Catering to your every want and need, they will learn your name and your favourite tipple, how you prefer your steak and perfectly prepare your breakfast every morning.

Perfectly built for warm weather cruising, Braemar's cascading stern and large deck area provides ample space within which to relax and enjoy the sunshine. And owing to her shallow draft, Braemar is able to sail down shallow and meandering rivers and waterways and get closer to the hearts of cities that larger cruise ships simply cannot reach.

On board Braemar you’ll find a superb selection of restaurants, bars and lounges offering sumptuous cuisine, a wide range of beers, wines and spirits and fantastic entertainment. Enjoy a delicious buffet-style lunch at the Palms Café and a expertly prepared, five-course a la carte dinner at the Thistle and Grampian Restaurants; refresh at the Marquee poolside bar in the sunshine; or perhaps enjoy cosy drink in the familiar surroundings of Morning Light Pub. Traditional afternoon tea in the Observatory Lounge is not-to-be-missed, and be sure to take in a show in the Neptune Lounge.

One of the focal points on Braemar is a beautifully painted, five-deck high Atrium which leads to the fully-equipped Fitness Centre, Palms Café, Coral Club and the Thistle Restaurant; while the cascading decks at the stern enhance the ship’s elegant profile and offer stunning vistas no matter which outside deck you’re on.

Cruise Overview:

For a wonderful start to the spring, Braemar will bring you closer to the highlights of enthralling Spanish and Portuguese destinations; historical landmarks, famous monuments, fantastic museums and much more are yours to uncover in four fantastic cities. There’s a memorable day in Madeira too, where you’ll join the rest of Fred. Olsen’s ocean-going fleet and be part of the ‘Four Fred.s in Funchal’ event.

In Spain, you begin your holiday with a call into the stylish Galician city of La Coruña. Perhaps you’ll be tempted into a day of exploration here; a broad array of architecture, galleries and landmarks such as the ancient Torre de Hercules and Cornide Palace can be discovered on foot. Alternatively, there’s time to relax on the city’s beautiful beaches; or tour to the spectacular, UNESCO-listed Santiago de Compostela cathedral. Further south, Vigo – another of Galicia’s charming cities – is a delight to explore, with its wonderful Old Quarter and picturesque bay, overlooked by a 17th century castle. You could uncover Vigo’s highlights during a relaxing day of sightseeing, and even sample delicious tapas at a local café for an authentic taste of Spain. You’ll also visit Avilés for a chance to learn about, and sample, traditional Asturian sidra at one of this pretty city’s many cider cellars. The world-renowned Óscar Niemeyer International Centre is a major attraction here too, and with Braemar docking alongside it, you’ll be perfectly placed to visit.

The Portuguese leg of this cruise packs-in plenty of memorable experiences too. A two-day stop at Lisbon affords you time to explore Portugal’s picturesque capital at your leisure. A collection of interesting museums, architectural delights and adorable historic attractions await within the city’s heart and along the banks of the River Tagus. Take it all in on foot, by tram or perhaps via Tuk Tuk – a unique way to see the sights. Following Lisbon is a day to remember on the ‘Garden Island’ of Madeira, where you’ll part of the very special ‘Four Fred.s in Funchal’ event. After docking alongside Balmoral, Black Watch and Boudicca, you’ll be part of a memorable day of celebration shared with crews and fellow guests from all four ocean-going ships in the Fred. Olsen fleet. There’ll be fantastic live entertainment, complemented by specially prepared menus, to mark this momentous occasion. Away from all the festivities, there are opportunities to explore the Madeira’s botanical gardens and picturesque walking trails.
