Cruise Description

8 Night Cruise sailing from Liverpool roundtrip aboard Black Watch.

Be captivated by classic Norwegian scenery as Black Watch sails breathtaking, size-restricted waterways to wonderful fjordland destinations. From on board your ship and during your time ashore you’ll experience some of the highest-rated and most breathtaking sights in the region, creating memories which will last a lifetime.

After embarking in Liverpool your eight night cruise begins with a sail to Bergen, stopping off in Lerwick to take in the rugged scenic landscapes of Scotland’s Shetland Islands en route. Once docked in the first of three enchanting Norwegian destinations on your itinerary, you’ll have a day to wander around Bergen’s colourful, UNESCO-listed Bryggen Wharf, explore the bustling fish market and even visit the former home of Edvard Grieg, which today is the fascinating Troldhaugen Museum. Don’t miss the views on offer from the Mount Fløyen viewpoint – accessed via the fantastic Funicular Railway – too. The following morning you’ll arrive in Flåm for the chance to enjoy some of the very best fjordland experiences. You could marvel at the awe-inspiring scenery from the Stegastein Lookout, which presents unspoilt views from 650 metres above Aurlandsfjord; or catch a ride on the iconic Flåmsbana Railway and see the cascading Kjosfossen Waterfall up-close. Whatever you choose to do, scenic cruising of the spectacular, UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord will ensure a memorable end to your second day in Norway.

Black Watch will then arrive at the final stop on your unforgettable foray into the fjords, Olden. Situated amongst rolling valleys, tall mountains and lush-green meadows, this charming little village is a real gem and a delight to explore. It’s also your gateway to stunning natural wonders such as the Briksdal Glacier – an arm of Europe’s largest inland glacier, Jostedalsbreen – and the beautiful Lovatnet Lake. Finally your time in the fjordland will conclude with another memorable evening of scenic cruising, gliding along the glass-like waters of Nordfjord – one of the longest and most picturesque fjords – and by the soaring Hornelen sea cliff. Be sure to have your camera to hand. Before returning to Liverpool you’ll also take in one of the UK’s most unique scenic highlights, Fingal’s Cave – a collection of fascinating basalt columns on the Scottish Isle of Staffa.
