Hotel stay in Punta Arenas with a flight to King George Island the following day to embark on an 11 Night Cruise to Ushuaia aboard Greg Mortimer.

Welcome to the ice factory! Thanks to vast ice shelves that calve monstrous tabular icebergs, waters rich in krill and otherworldly landscapes, the Weddell Sea is one of Antarctica’s unique regions. Our new expedition ship, Greg Mortimer, is ice-strengthened to take you safely and comfortably between the Weddell Sea and the Antarctic Peninsula’s west coast for the best of both worlds.

DAY 1 Arrive in Punta Arenas and make your way to your downtown hotel. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure to explore this vibrant, historic seaport on the Strait of Magellan.

DAY 2 Enjoy scenic flight to King George Island, Antarctica, and transfer by Zodiac to your expedition ship, the Greg Mortimer.

DAYS 3–4 Sail to Antarctic Sound, entrance to the mesmerising, icefilled Weddell Sea. Possible landings at penguin-rich Gourdin Island and Brown Bluff.

DAYS 5–7 Push into Weddell Sea, aiming for Seymour and James Ross islands’ fossil fields, and Paulet islands.

DAYS 8–11 Explore the Antarctic Peninsula's west coast and enjoy excursions to Astrolabe or Enterprise islands, Port Lockroy, and Paradise Harbour.

DAY 12 Cross Drake Passage, surrounded by soaring albatross and flitting petrels. Celebrate your extraordinary voyage while entering Beagle Channel.

DAY 13 After breakfast, disembark the Greg Mortimer in Ushuaia for homeward flights, or one of our extension trips.
