Cruise Description

14 Night Cruise sailing from Bridgetown roundtrip aboard Braemar.

Enjoy an unforgettable festive fortnight packed with sun, sea, sand and an abundance of authentic Caribbean experiences, sailing from one spectacular paradise island to the next aboard Braemar.

Your friendly home-from-home at sea will be waiting for you to embark in Barbados, from where – after settling in on board – you’ll sail to stunning St Lucia. With breathtaking attractions such as the soaring Twin Pitons; bubbling hot springs of the Soufrière Volcano; and the Diamond Botanical Gardens and Falls within reach, a call into Castries will ensure a memorable start to your Caribbean adventure. Then in Grenada, not-to-be-missed experiences include exploring the gorgeous lush landscapes of Grand Etang National Park – a haven for a wealth of fascinating fauna and flora – and a ride along the scenic coast aboard the legendary Rhum Runner boat. You’ll then arrive at Curacao on Christmas Eve, for the chance to take in UNESCO-listed Willemstad’s colonial architecture and pretty pastel-fronted houses in the sunshine, before enjoying a magical Christmas Day at sea. Combine traditional food, drink, fun and festivity with hours of soothing sunbathing on board Braemar, while the friendly, attentive staff take care of everything for you – a simply unforgettable occasion.

It’s back on dry land on Boxing Day, visiting the beautiful island of St Kitts. An undoubted highlight here is the world-famous St Kitts Scenic Railway, regarded as one of the greatest train journeys on earth. The next morning your ship stops at Road Town, gateway to uncovering the famed pirate history of Tortola. There’s a chance to explore the island’s myths and legends on a scenic boat tour, followed by an exciting open-top safari bus adventure. A diversion to Gran Turk follows, for the chance to make the most of the Caribbean sunshine on white-sand beaches, bathe in warm, crystal-clear waters or even snorkel tropical reefs, before ending the year in style in St Maarten. Perhaps unwind on the beach; discover historic sites such as the Willem and Amsterdam Forts; or tour the island on the back of Harley Davidson. No matter what you choose to do during the day; watching the New Year’s fireworks at midnight will be an experience you won’t forget. Finally, after a day at sea to catch your breath, you’ll return to Barbados for chances to admire floral displays at Hunte’s Gardens, go in search of Sea Turtles and much more.

Highlights of this cruise:

Bridgetown, Barbados
Barbados has a balmy, tropical climate, making this very British Caribbean island a favourite with well-heeled tourists. Admire the impressive stalactites and stalagmites in Harrison’s Cave; sail the gorgeous azure waters in search of sea turtles; or simply relax on one of the many sandy beaches, soaking up the laid-back atmosphere.

Castries, St. Lucia
St Lucia is the sort of island that travellers to the Caribbean dream about – a small, lush tropical gem. With glorious soft white beaches, St. Lucia is the perfect place to lay back, relax and soak up the sun. Away from the beaches, there are many National Parks with beautiful fauna and native wildlife to explore.

Willemstad
An UNESCO World Heritage Site, there's much more to Willemstad than beautiful beaches and a wonderful warm climate. With charming 18th century houses decorated with cool pastel colours and striking yellows and royal blues, you would be forgiven for mistaking Willemstad with Amsterdam.

Basseterre, St Kitts
The elegant St. Kitts capital, Basseterre, has some of the oldest buildings in the Caribbean. Take a tour to Brimstone Hill Fortress to admire magnificent views across the island, travel on the St. Kitts Scenic Railway – said to be one of the most attractive train journeys in the world – or simply relax on one of the tranquil beaches in the balmy climate.

Road Town, Tortola
Tortola was a famous pirate haunt of old, and still retains a surreal, beguiling charm. The capital, Road Town, is typically old-world Caribbean and home to the legendary Pussers Bar, the perfect place to try some authentic Caribbean rum. Nearby Cane Garden Bay is a great place to unwind, with its vast expanse of sugar-white sands.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Philipsburg is the capital of the Dutch half of St. Maarten, an island amicably shared between Holland and France for centuries. It’s a shopper’s paradise, with everything from jewellery to electrical goods on sale. Take a water taxi to the nearby sandy beach, studded with colourful clapboard restaurants and outdoor cafés.
