Cruise Description

38 Night Cruise sailing from Bridgetown to Brisbane aboard Black Watch.

With chances to soak up the sunshine and scenery of stunning islands in the Caribbean and the South Pacific; explore culture-rich, diverse destinations in South and Central America; and celebrate New Year’s in style in one of the world’s most iconic cities, there’s no better way to see out 2018 than on this incredible 39 night cruise.

Your epic voyage begins in the Caribbean where, after embarking your ship in beautiful Barbados, you’ll sail to Bonaire to take in the delights of the island’s capital, Kralendijk. You’ll find pretty pastel coloured houses, an abundance of shops and welcoming restaurants serving delicious Creole cuisine with the city; while stunning beaches, national parks and warm waters rife with marine life are close-by too. From the Caribbean it’s on to Colombia, Panama and Costa Rica. The UNESCO-listed Colombian walled city of Cartagena de Indias is a delight to explore, with its centuries-old churches, historic fortress and ancient monasteries. A short call into Colón continues your South and Central American adventure before Black Watch sails the Panama Canal. Watching the various locks and dams of this incredible feat of engineering, which slices through the Panamanian jungle, is always a special experience. Before heading across the Pacific, you’ll also visit charming Puntarenas and have the chance to venture into lush nature reserves and rainforests from Puerto Caldera.

You will then head for ‘the land down under’, stopping at a string of spectacular South Pacific Islands en route. You’ll be beckoned ashore to explore by the spectacular, unspoilt volcanic landscapes of Nuku Hiva; and within Rangiroa’s crystal-clear lagoons, a plethora of astonishing fauna such as dolphins and colourful tropical fish are yours to encounter. Paradise awaits on the idyllic islands of Tahiti and Bora-Bora, presenting you with an picture book of postcard-perfect beaches, soaring mountains and tumbling waterfalls; and Christmas Eve will be spent exploring the glorious ‘island where time begins’, Tonga. After enjoying a magical Christmas at sea, you’ll also immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of uninhabited Mystery Island before finally reaching Australian shores. An incredible culmination of your cruise and the year awaits you, with a two night stay in Sydney offering you the chance to experience the excitement of New Year’s Eve in the city. Perhaps take the day to see world-famous landmarks including the instantly recognisable Opera House, before watching fantastic fireworks signal the arrival of 2019 high above the iconic Harbour Bridge at midnight – a once-in-a-lifetime experience. After all the fun and festivity, you’ll two days to indulge in some rest and relaxation on Bondi Beach too before sailing to Newcastle, your final port of call.

Highlights of this cruise:

Bridgetown, Barbados
Barbados has a balmy, tropical climate, making this very British Caribbean island a favourite with well-heeled tourists. Admire the impressive stalactites and stalagmites in Harrison’s Cave; sail the gorgeous azure waters in search of sea turtles; or simply relax on one of the many sandy beaches, soaking up the laid-back atmosphere.

Panama Canal
A journey through the incredible Panama Canal provides one of cruising's most unforgettable experiences. One of the world's greatest engineering feats, the canal stretches over 48 miles and takes 8 hours to travel, giving you plenty of time to admire this remarkable man-made wonder and the beautiful natural surroundings.

Papeete, Tahiti
French Polynesia is comprised of over 100 islands and atolls, with Tahiti possibly being the most famous thanks to its soaring peaks, lush valleys, cascading waterfalls and stunning vistas. The bustling city of Papeete is home to the world’s only Pearl Museum and an array of natural treasures including the Faarumai Waterfalls and spring garden of Vaipahi.

Mystery Island, Vanuatu
The origins and history of this beautiful uninhabited island are - as the name would suggest - a mystery. Completely unspoilt, this incredible tropical paradise is barely a kilometre long and just 200 metres wide with stretches of glorious golden beaches, windswept palm trees and a coral reef abundant with thousands of fish, in a deep blue, calm sea.

Sydney, Australia
Sydney, Australia is one of the world's most exciting, must-visit modern cities. Home to the famous Harbour Bridge and Opera House - two of the most iconic structures on Earth - it is easy to understand why Sydney is so highly regarded. A timeless, charming city, you will fall in love with this cosmopolitan metropolis as soon as you step off the ship.

Brisbane, Australia
With its harmonious mix of elegant colonial sandstone structures and modern glass skyscrapers, Brisbane is one of the world's fastest developing cities. Located alongside the beautiful Brisbane River, this friendly, welcoming city has a laid back, vibrant atmosphere and offers an abundance of walks, reserves and barbecue hotspots to enjoy.
