Cruise Description

3 Night Cruise sailing from Southampton roundtrip aboard Balmoral.

Whether you’re new to Fred. Olsen and want to experience cruising on board one of our smaller, more intimate cruise ships; or are a regular Fred. guest looking for a relaxing weekend break, this River Seine Sojourn is the perfect getaway.

Your wonderful long weekend away begins with an overnight cruise to France, where you’ll wake up to views of beautiful countryside as Balmoral glides into Rouen. Docking in the heart of the city ensures you’ll be perfectly placed to discover the smorgasbord of historic highlights and cultural delights at your leisure. Visit the stunning cathedral to marvel at its magnificent gothic-style façade, and explore the Place du Vieux Marché, which is home to bustling bars and restaurants as well as the exact spot where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake. Alternatively join a tour to Paris, and spend a magical evening in the French capital. Wander along the Champs-Elysées, stop for photos at the iconic Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe, and grab a bite to eat at world-famous restaurants.

Upon departure from Rouen you will enjoy a relaxing 60-nautical-mile journey along the winding waters of the River Seine, taking in the unspoilt views of gorgeous lush-green landscapes and charming communes from the decks of Balmoral before the ship calls into historic Honfleur. Here you wander the charming, 16th century cobbled streets and see St. Catherine’s Church; walk along the picturesque harbour; or perhaps take the weight off your feet in one of the delightful cafés and watch the world go by over a warming cuppa. There’s also the chance to venture into Normandy’s beautiful countryside, stopping at a traditional distillery to sample delicious ciders, calvados and locally produced cheeses.

Highlights of this cruise:

Normandy's delightful 2,000 years old 'museum city' and busy river-port on the meandering Seine.

Cruising River Seine
The winding, 485-mile-long River Seine is France’s most important waterway and one of Europe’s most historic great rivers.

This quaint little port and its surrounding countryside were long the inspiration for painters and poets.
